No Tour For Scarlett Johansson

Making music wasn’t the best idea Scarlett Johansson’s ever had, but at least she’s spared us the pain and torture of a tour. She has decided that there will be no promotional tour for her new album, ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head.’ Her debut album, which was a collection of Tom Waits covers, hit shelves on May 19th. ScarJo, who recently admitted she suffers from stagefright has ruled any future gigs even though she was rumored to be performing at summer music festivals.

A spokesman for her record label Warner Music says,
It’s purely a hobby for her. Now that she’s engaged as well (to actor Ryan Reynolds) the opportunities seem to have become even more limited. If it was a hobby, why the hell release an album? Shoulda kept it for her ears only.

SCARLETT JOHANSSON - JOHANSSON SNUBS CANNES PREMIERE

SCARLETT JOHANSSON snubbed the premiere of WOODY ALLEN's latest movie VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA at the Cannes International Film Festival after movies bosses reportedly refused to cater to her diva demands. The blonde beauty - who stars in the new movie alongside Penelope Cruz - was expected to grace the red carpet at the French festival on Saturday (17May08), but missed the prestigious premiere amid rumours movie bosses at the French arm of Warner Bros Films - the production's distributors - reportedly denied her extravagant hospitality expectations.
According to British newspaper the Daily Mail, the Lost In Translation star made a string of demands to ensure her appearance at the renowned festival - including a $8,000 (GBP4,000) a day make-up artist.

Reports also suggest Johansson was unwilling to stay at a luxurious central Cannes hotel with director Allen and co-star Penelope Cruz, preferring a suite at a hotel 30 miles away.
A source tells the publication, "While Woody's terribly fond of Scarlett, he was a little upset that she wasn't being a team player." Johansson's male-star, Spanish Oscar-winner Javier Bardem, also missed the movie's Cannes premiere on Saturday, citing personal family reasons for his non-appearance.

Scarlett Johansson Releases an Album

About two weeks from now, 23-year-old Hollywood screen siren Scarlett Johansson will release her debut album, Anywhere I Lay My Head. People.com says that the album mostly consists of Tom Waits covers, as well as “Song for Jo,” a track that Johansson wrote with her producer, TV on the Radio’s David Andrew Sitek. The first single, “Falling Down,” and “Fannin Street” have David Bowie singing backup.

Describing “Song for Jo,” Johansson says, “It was a memory of someone that's very close to me: a vague and blissful memory of my wanton youth or whatever. It's a song about friendship, I think.”
He calls her sound “Tinkerbell on cough syrup.”

When asked about what her fans will think as she includes music to her résumé, she says, “I never worry about that kind of thing. I hope people enjoy it.” But why Tom Waits? “I'm not trying to prove anything on this album,” Johansson says in a statement that’s on People.com. “I just love [Tom Waits's] music.”
Scarlett Johansson recently announced her engagement to Ryan Reynolds. She will be in Woody Allen’s Vicky Christina Barcelona next. Her album, Anywhere I Lay My Head is available May 20 on Rhino Records.

Scarlett Johansson Is Singing A Happy Song

FITSNews - April 30, 2008 - Surpise … actress Scarlett Johansson is no longer just a movie star, she’s a recording artist, too! Well … if you consider someone butchering a bunch of Tom Waits covers to be “art.” Which we do, of course, provided they have Scarlett’s knockers. The good news for Johansson (other than her rack) is that there are some incredibly melodic moments on her new Anywhere I Lay My Head album … the bad news is that all of them occur when she’s not singing.

We know with the economy tanking the way it is there’s a growing market for depressing down-tempo crap like this, but even people who want to kill themselves can appreciate decent vocals.
Johansson’s voice? The best she can hope for is that the CIA buys a bunch of these CD’s to play while they’re interrogating al Queda suspects or something. “You don’t know where Makmoud’s dirty bomb is? Well, let’s just see what Miss Johansson has to say about that (dum-dum-dum).” Hell, this album doesn’t even hit stores for another three weeks and it’s probably already breaking the Geneva Convention.
